Every parents worst nightmare comes true, in this horror novel by Cheryl Kaye Tardif. Children of the Fog will scare the pants off you, in more ways than one. It’s a mix of a ghost story, psychological thriller, and a suspense novel. All of my favorite things in one book. When Sadie’s six year old, mute, son Sam is kidnapped right in front of her eyes, she must live with the burden of knowing that she has seen his kidnappers face-and can’t tell anyone about it, lest she wants her son to die. On top of that, she’s an alcoholic who just might spiral out of control. Just when you think you have everything figured out as far as the plot goes, Tardif pulls the rug right out from under you. While I was about half way through the book, I thought I had it all right in my head, and I knew what was going on, but then another plot twist was thrown at me, and I had to read on to see what was going to happen next.
